Join us for an unusual experience walking alongside giant wind turbines, an enormous water reservoir that “stores” electricity, hundreds of solar panels and breathtaking views of the Springs Valley and the Gilead Mountains. If you want, you can continue on to the many tourist attractions in the area
Learn about the new world of renewable energies by walking alongside giant wind turbines, an enormous water reservoir that “stores” electricity, hundreds of solar panels and breathtaking views of the Springs Valley and the Gilead Mountains. We’ll see a short film about the power of the wind and learn about the mechanics of the wind turbines and the “pumped storage” project.
Innovative technology and renewable energies meet in Kibbutz Ma’ale Gilboa, which for over thirty years has been at the forefront of developing and generating electricity from renewable sources. We’ll start the tour with a magnificent view of the Springs Valley, watch a short film about the power of the wind, stroll by the giant wind turbines, see the solar panels in the kibbutz, hear how to generate electricity in the cow-shed, and understand what a smart power grid is. We’ll finish up with a fantastic view of northern Samaria and Yizrael Valley.
A musical tribute to the wind in Israeli culture – in song and legend, with the musician Nogah Tamir (in Hebrew)
This nature-tour will introduce you to renewable energies and natural agriculture. The tour starts at the visitors center of Ma'ale Gilboa’s Renewable Energy Wind Farm where you’ll learn about the many ways we can generate electricity naturally, with renewable resources – wind turbines, solar panels, pumped storage and bio-gas (planned). You’ll then continue on for a light lunch and Café B’Sade in Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu (ask for their organic or vegetarian menu!) followed by the “Inspired by Nature” Bio Tour. Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu is a pioneer and at the forefront of commercial organic farming and biological pest control in Israel and around the world. The tour includes a visit to organic vegetable fields and date groves. In the Bio Tour Visitor Center you’ll hear about the special way of life the members of the religious kibbutz Sde Eliyahu have chosen, as well as the importance of preserving nature and the environment.
The vision of providing electricity to the pioneers of Israel in the 1900’s is told in the sound and light show at Naharayim at Gesher – the first hydro-electric plant that played a role in the building of the State of Israel. You’ll then hear the stories of the pioneers of Kibbutz Gesher and “the Angel in White” and prepare your own focaccia in the authentic pioneer’s bakery. Continue on to the Visitors Center at Ma'ale Gilboa’s Renewable Energy Wind Farm where you’ll learn about the many ways we can generate electricity today, with renewable resources – wind turbines, solar panels and pumped storage.
This adventure-tour includes driving RZR vehicles off-road in the Gilboa Forest on rugged trails, with breathtaking vistas and a special stop under the wind turbines at the Visitors Center at Ma'ale Gilboa’s Renewable Energy Wind Farm. An experienced accredited guide will accompany you to assure the ultimate Gilboa experience.
